Another spring has come, asides from the busy cycle of work at the end of the year, Gemadept Corporation still reserved time for social activities with the desire to join hands with the community and bring a part of the physical and spiritual joy of spring to the less fortunate people.
On January 29, 2021, representatives of the Executive Committee of the Trade Union and staff of Gemadept Corporation organized a charity trip to visit, present gifts and share the love to those who are facing extremely difficult circumstances at Go Vap Center for Cultivation and Sponsorship of Children. This year is a very special year. Due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, charity works at the Center have faced many difficulties. Talking to Gemadept volunteers, Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Director of Go Vap Center for Cultivation and Sponsorship of Children, said the Center is currently nurturing more than 200 children, from birth up to 22 years old, of which 85% of them are disabled and severely disabled. They were brought in by hospitals and the Divisions of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs from different districts and communes of the city. The majority of the children have birth defects such as congenital heart disease, cleft palate, paralysis, cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, Down syndrome, intellectual disability, visual impairment, hearing impairment, motor disability, etc.
In 2020, due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, many charity organizations were not able to visit and sponsor. Because of that, the Center faced difficulties because not being able to afford medicines and medical equipment for the children.
Understanding the difficulties that the Center is facing and the urgent needs of the children, in this volunteer trip, Gemadept gifted the Center nearly VND 100 million worth of boxes of special medicine with the desire to share part of the burden the community is facing and to motivate the staff working at the Center. The group also directly visited the treatment areas, presented lucky envelopes to the little patients in hopes of bringing the peaceful and warm Spring Luck to the orphans and the disabled on the New Year’s Day of 2021.
Saying goodbye to the Center, Gemadept volunteers left, hearts filled with unspoken emotions and minds filled with images of smiles on the young faces of the children. The members of the group understand that love is knowing to give, to share, and to receive the cheerful laughters of the children in difficult circumstances.
Just like that, when Spring comes, the journey of love once again lights up and continues on the journeys of Gemadept, multiplying the joy of sharing with those that are less fortunate in their lives, adding happiness for them.
