Another spring has come, despite heavy workload during this season of the year, Gemadept Corporation carried out social activities aiming at giving hands to the community, bringing the necessities and joyfulness to unfortunate ones.
As the Corporation’s good humanity tradition, last 13 January 2017, weeks before Vietnam’s Rooster New Year 2017, representatives of Gemadept’s Labor Union and staff held a meaningful charity trip, donating Tet gifts and lunches to over 500 people, who are unfortunate and mentally ill, at Binh Duc Social Center, Binh Duc Hamlet, Duc Hanh Commune, Bu Gia Map District, Binh Phuoc Province.
It was the second consecutive year when Gemadept’s charity delegation visited the center, which lies at a remote region 200km away from Hochiminh City. The delegation found out a lot of changes there. The center has been extended with better facilities, young and enthusiastic physicians and medical staff. Especially, the patients and trainees looked healthier, happier and more active.
The Corporation’s gifts were directly delivered to the patients and trainees. Everyone had a joyful lunch together. People at the center really needed and appreciated the delegation’s love, care and share. With deepest emotion, a trainee said to one member of the delegation, ‘Thanks a lot for the good lunch. I look forward to meeting you again.’ Mr. Nguyen Viet Thanh, head of the psychiatry department of the centre, who was cited as a typical young citizen of Hochiminh City in 2016 told the delegation, ‘The patients are very honest. They know and remember all what we give them.’
The delegation had the opportunity to enjoy unique performances made by mental patients and trainees. Despite the unprofessionalism and clumsiness, the performances were filled with enthusiasm and gratitude, which turned into a priceless spiritual gift for the delegation.
Late afternoon was time for the delegation to say goodbye to the patients and trainees, leaving Bu Gia Map and the cool air around Mo Waterfall behind. Through the eyes of people at the center, members of the delegation deeply understood that loving meant giving and sharing. Knowing that there would be more smiles and joyfulness at the center during the coming Tet holidays, the members felt really warm inside. Every time a new year comes, Gemadept’s journey of love is further extended, bringing more support, sharing and cheerfulness to those in need.
